The location, room and views were amazing but staff upon arrival were not helpful and didn’t speak English.

The property was stunning with amazing views all around. Our room opened directly onto the swimming pool with a small patio which was beautiful. The location was amazing, walking distance to St Miguel.

No basic tea/coffee was provided, and up on arrival which was late at night after a long drive we were met by a supposing 24 hour desk staff member who did not speak any English, despite our online booking in advance, they were not expecting us.

An enjoyable stay.

That is was once owned by the most famous Mexican comedian Cantinflas!! The gardens and the pool are exceptionally beautiful. Brenda and Ernesto were very accommodating.

the Hotel needs to be refurbished because the furniture and the fixtures are very dated. Also the AC needs to be repaired or replaced.

I liked the beautiful murals and vintage furniture. It is a lovely piece of Mexican history. We had incredible views of the city and cathedral from our bedroom window. I would certainly stay there again.

Needs basic maintenance- avoid rooms in the main building facing the street.

A large vintage hotel set on the hill above San Miguel with great views over the city. This was my second time staying at La Ermita. the first time I stayed in a terrace suite room and this was fantastic. Great 70’s vintage styling and plenty of space. There is a small pool, but it’s not heated so is very cold. a nice spot for when the heat of the afternoon is at its height. the 1970’s vintage Mexican hacienda styling of the hotel is great and I love this architecture and history. this is the main point of the hotel and adds character compres to modern bland hotels that all look the same. this is a point to celebrate about this hotel. I believe the hotel was owned by a famous Mexican comedian from the 1970’s as there are amazing photos of him in the lobby.

This time I stayed here I chose a different room, the smaller city view rooms in the main building of the hotel. This was a mistake. The room was large and light filled, but I was less than impressed. The hotel is on a main road into San Miguel that is a bus route. the noise of the traffic struggling up the steep hill was very loud, I couldn’t have the window open due to the noise from the road. it was too loud. My room had a small kitchen in it, yet it had no kitchen utensils, no pans, nothing. there was a coffee machine, yet it had no filters, no jug and a random mug underneath. What is the point in having a small kitchen if they don’t provide any way of using it. This wasn’t in keeping with the vintage styling of the hotel and was a cheap dated addition that didn’t fit with the room. A complete design disaster. The bathroom in my room was a let down. There were 3 different types of brown stone effect tiles in a small room. Not the original vintage tiles like the terrace rooms, but a more modern version. all looked out of place and jarring. There were many things in the bathroom broken. the light fitting was broken, toilet roll holder missing, shaving mirror - there was no mirror but yet the extendable arm was left on the wall. the towel rail had been ripped off the wall and placed in the wardrobe area. All these broken items leaving filled holes / raw plugs visible in the wall. The whole room needed some attention and love. A cost of paint and fixing all the broken items would not take more than - day to put right and when the room is over $2500 pesos per night, that is unacceptable. Another problem I had was with housekeeping, I came back to my room on my second day to find housekeeping cleaning on this floor of rooms. they had 5 doors to different rooms wide open, mine included. they were not even cleaning my room at this time and were in another room. Anyone could easily have walked into my room with all my luggage on display.

Wonderful

The room had a wonderful view. It was 6 blocks away from the city center which wasn't terrible considering the views were fantastic.

We did have to pay for extra water bottles.

Loved my stay

I loved staying in this hotel, especially for the spectacular views from the room. I woke up to a pink sky and hot balloons in the air. Priceless! Staff was very kind and accommodating!

Overall, I enjoyed it except for the few mishaps. Also it when I booked, it said parking included, however, wr had yo p

I loved the outside grounds. they were beating and clean and had awesome views. The first night however, we got a room that was pretty dirty, had no coffee or coffee pot and the shower faucet or TV did not work. our next few nights were better after the groundskeeper and a very nice cleaning lady moved us to a different suite. These two were awesome. I had called front desk and told them about shower faucet and if I could get a coffee pot and she said ok, but never did do anything. Hours later water in shower was still running and no coffee pot. I had even gone to the store to buy my own coffee. That’s when I encountered the cleaning lady and right away she checked out and couldn’t close it so she brought the elder grounds keeper. These 2 get a 10! Front desk receptionist not helpful or courteous at all!

I loved, loved it. Just add effort into the cleaning and courtesy.
